Hourly to Salary Calculator

Convert an hourly rate into weekly, monthly and annual pay based on your weekly work hours.

Stable formulaThis calculator uses a stable mathematical formula. Always verify the values you enter.

How do you convert an hourly rate to monthly and annual pay?

The accurate conversion goes through the year: weekly pay × 52 weeks = annual pay, then ÷ 12 for monthly. That averages ≈4.33 weeks per month — more accurate than multiplying by 4, which loses almost a full month per year.

Example

$25/hour × 40 hours/week = $1,000/week → $52,000/year → $4,333/month on average.

Note: this is gross pay — before income tax and deductions. Use our salary calculator for net pay.

💡 Useful Tips

  • Full-time in the US is typically 40 hours/week (2,080 hours/year).
  • Overtime pay is not included here.
  • Check your local minimum wage for current values.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just multiply by 4 weeks?

A year has 52 weeks, not 48. Multiplying by 4 understates pay by about 8.7%. Going through the year (×52 ÷12) gives the correct monthly average.

Is this gross or net?

Gross. Taxes and deductions come out of this — use the salary calculator for take-home pay.

How many working hours in a year?

40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours for a standard US full-time job.
